It’s been a very busy start to the school year. Students have been mapping the school grounds for native and invasive plants. Our efforts revealed a very nice milkweed stand that had two monarch caterpillars. After relocating them to the classroom, we were able to use the time-lapse camera to capture footage of a caterpillar going into a chrysalis. I’ll post a link when the student finishes the narration on the film. Unfortunately, we missed the emergence by a few hours because I forgot to post the sign to leave the lights on in the filming arena. But it was exciting to see the emerged butterfly take its first flight in the classroom.
